Mullis: The line between holiday procrastination and preparation is August – Battle Creek Enquirer

My fellow seasonal purists might take the lights down New Year’s Day, but I give myself a couple of weeks to finish the Christmas cookies, which are best eaten at night in the holly jolly glow. I understand the logic of stringing up the house before the wind chill sets in and remove said strings after the wind chills ceases. I’m proud to say we’ve kept this Christmas light tradition in spite of pregnancies, moving, job changes, housebreaking a puppy, influenza, varsity basketball seasons, and Polar Vortexes.
